Financial Information

What is benchmarking, and why is it important?

Benchmarking is a process for comparing income and expenditure in detail with that of similar schools to consider whether Hillborough Infant and Nursery School can use resources better and identify where changes can be made.

This process is undertaken annually and the School reports the findings from benchmarking to the Governing Body.

Benchmarking is used as a contributing factor to:

  • Plan and manage the School's budget;
  • Identify areas and set targets for improved use of resources;
  • Achieve value for money in expenditure and improve its effectiveness in driving performance;
  • Deliver educational services to a defined standard.
